Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda will be the full-time drivers for Red Bull in 2025. Verstappen clinched the championship title in 2021, 2022, and 2023. Additionally, Red Bull secured the constructors' championship in both 2022 and 2023. After dominating in 2022 and especially 2023, the Austrian team faced a challenging 2024. Although they started the season strongly, they were unable to successfully develop the car. This unexpectedly led to a title battle between Verstappen and Norris, which the Dutchman ultimately won. The team finished third in the constructors' championship.

The team was formed in 2005, when Dietrich Mateschitz and Dr Helmut Marko joined forces to take over the struggling Jaguar Racing operation. They immediately brought in Christian Horner to the role of Team Principal, but perhaps their most important addition came at the end of the 2005 season, when Horner persuaded the highly regarded designer Adrian Newey to join the Austrian outfit from McLaren.

Compared to the likes of Ferrari and McLaren, Red Bull are still a relatively new team, but it didn't take them long to find success. In their first season, they brought in the experienced David Coulthard to drive alongside Christian Klein, and scored more points than Jaguar had in the previous two combined. Little progress was made in the years that immediately followed but, equipped with Renault engines and a driver line-up of Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel, the team capitalised on major rule changes within the sport to make huge strides up the grid in 2009.
 

Led by Christian Horner and a car designed by Newey, Red Bull took their debut win and first 1-2 at the 2009 Chinese Grand Prix, en route to a second-place finish in the Constructors' Championship. That would usher in a four-year period of dominance between 2010 and 2013 where the Milton Keynes team dominated F1, capturing four successive Constructors' and Drivers' championships.

Following that successful stint, no more titles followed for some time, as engine supplier Renault struggled in the early years of the V6 hybrid era. Dogged by a lack of pace and reliability, the team fell down the pecking order, even finishing as low as fourth in the 2015 standings. However, after swapping Renault for Honda ahead of the 2019 season, Red Bull were able to pose more of a serious threat to Mercedes, as well as being helped by the strong performances of Verstappen.

First world title for Max Verstappen

Red Bull's Honda-powered efforts finally came to fruition in 2021 when, following an intense championship battle with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen claimed a first F1 crown on the final lap in a dramatic finale in Abu Dhabi. In the 2022 season Red Bull Racing won the Constructors' Championship.

The past three years for Redbull in F1

The F1season of 2023 was an absolute highlight for Red Bull. The team achieved a record number of points, namely 860, with 21 victories and 30 podium finishes, making it the best season ever for the team. Max Verstappen was the undisputed star, securing nineteen victories, including an impressive streak of ten consecutive wins. Sergio Perez also contributed with two triumphs.

Although an initially exciting battle between Verstappen and Perez for the championship was anticipated, Verstappen quickly emerged as the dominant force. The question of whether Perez could maintain his second position was ultimately answered in the affirmative.

Red Bull appeared poised for another dominant season in 2024, as evidenced by a one-two finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, the opposite proved true, with Red Bull's performance declining while competitors made significant strides. Max Verstappen's pursuit of a fourth world championship was challenged by Lando Norris, and the team finished third in the constructors' championship. Sergio Perez faced immense pressure due to inconsistent performances and will be replaced by Liam Lawson, who previously raced for Visa Cash App RB in 2024.

However, the New Zealander was replaced by Yuki Tsunoda after just two races, which was announced by Red Bull team on Thursday, March 27. As a result, Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda now form the regular driver duo for the Austrian team.
